Winter Persimmon

Real dried persimmon with white bean paste

It’s snowy and cold, which is not the most fun in a city not used to handling snow. But, it’s nice under my kotatsu with today’s afternoon snack. It’s called sui-kan-shuku・粋甘粛 from Minamoto Kitchoan.

It’s another hoshi gaki・干し柿・dried persimmon, this time a real one! Not a dessert shaped like one. It has shiro ・白あん・white bean paste inside and is dusted with sugar powder.

This one was honestly astonishingly good. Hoshi gaki and shiro an are two of my top favorites. I would buy this again in a heartbeat, in bulk.
